Thoi An Temple

Thoi An Temple was built in the early nineteenth century by the people of Thoi Thuan hamlet, Thoi An village, with bamboo materials to worship gods. In 1852, King Tu Duc granted the title to Thoi An Temple as "Thanh Hoang Bon Canh". Since the ordination, the villagers have chosen the location and worked together to build a new temple a kilometer away from the old house. That is Thoi An Temple today.

Located in Thoi Trinh A area, O Mon district, Can Tho city,Thoi An Temple is built in the most literal form, with the face facing east, with a unique artistic architecture, bearing the traditional architecture of the nation.
Like some communal houses in the Mekong Delta, bear worshiped "Thanh Hoang Canh Canh" and the predecessors to reclaim the South land, set up villages, and expand the village's businesses more and more prosperous; worshiping the soldiers who sacrificed for the country, worshiping the vocational masters for the villagers, after the reunification of the home country.

During the nine-year resistance war against the invasion of the French colonialism, Thoi An temple was also the headquarters of the O Mon interim administrative resistance committee. Every year, Thoi An villagers all solemnly organize two festivals: Thuong and Ha Dien, pray for good and peaceful rain and happy life. This is also an occasion for people to remember heroes and martyrs.

Experiencing many variables with history, Thoi An temple still exists. This is one of the most beautiful and ancient houses remaining in Can Tho City, as well as in the Mekong Delta region. With those values ​​on November 15, 2004, Can Tho City People's Committee issued Decision 3446 / QD-UBND to rank Thoi An family as a city-level cultural and historical site.
